>> a one-man crime spree caught on camera. what he is taking that is surprising his victims. plus, homeless taking on the city of daytona beach. why dozens are saying they are not moving from the @ volusia county administration building. >> right now on fox35 news at 11:00: >> bob: a homeless standoff in volusia county. dozens say they are not leaving the county administration building in daytona beach. tiffany teasley is live out there with why they are say they really have no place else to go. even though i think earlier they were offered a place to go, tiffany. >> reporter: and despite buses coming in earlier to take the homeless to a temporary shelter many decided to stay here at volusia county building they say until the city can come up with a better solution. the homeless in daytona beach

volusia county administration building on beach street for two weeks. >> it came to this because there was no place else to go. every place you went to you were in fear of being arrested for doing things like sleeping. >> reporter: they are here at this particular building for a reason. with the city closing the nearby park this has now become their home for fear of ending up behind bars anywhere else. >> with the city taking the action of closing city island park and manatee island park and closing the bath rooms and taking up the park benches it left precious little space for the homeless to operate in. >> reporter: today buses were brought in by the salvation arm to worked with the city of daytona beach to transport the homeless to a 46-bed temporary shelter but only a few got on with the majority choosing to stay.

salvation army is temporary. they want something permanent. >> they would have to be woken up and long beach the salvation army at 6 am and would be back on the street anywayway . >> reporter: the city works to build a regional shelter but advocates say that will take year when a solution is needed now >> they cannot do overnight but they should have attempted to do something before now. >> reporter: on friday the volusia county property appraisers office decided to shutdown operations here at the building after workers were complaining they could not get into work. county officials confirmed by end of the week all government operations will be shutdown here at this building. tiffany teasley reporting live for fox35. >> bob: the marion county sheriff's office is investigating a homicide in

family members found a 57 early year old dead in a house on u.s. highway 225-a. the cause of death hasn't been released but if you have information about the case call the marion county sheriff's office. have you seen this? dramatic video released. caught on camera here. an orlando police officer as you see opens fire and that is a stolen car right there. police say the driver refused to stop and so they shot and wounded that driver. a 17 year old suspect. it happened a couple weeks ago. tonight fox35 keith landry spoke with a law enforcement expert who thinks officers did the right thing opening fire. he is at the orlando police department with the latest. >> reporter: orlando police just released two videos that show how a traffic stop quickly turned into a situation where a police officer decided to fire shots at a car coming right at him. take a look at the two clips and

decision of orlando police officer jonathan mills to fire shots at a car. the first video is from his body cam and the second from a score security camera. on january 16th, two officers did a traffic stop on the 17 year old driver. the video shows the officers ordering him to stop but he doesn't and backs into another car and drives toward officer mill. copenhagen worked the beat more than 20 years as a police officer and worked narcotics with nbi. he said a scene can change within a heart beat. >> it happens now in your face and you have a split second chance to get out of the way of the ten thousand pound missile. >> an officer must decide whether to shoot and defend the officer's own life >> they could not retreat because they would be pinned between the bad guy and his car.

what is surprising the victims is what he is taking. >> he took the garage door opener like this one and he goes to the second car. >> reporter: jason thought his wife left the garage door open when she got home late saturday night. >> this was the garage door when we woke up. very unusual. at three o'clock in the morning i heard the garage door open and he had a light going off inside the house on the security camera indicating the door opened. >> reporter: she was checking her social media and noticed something was up. >> i noticed people were commenting on their community facebook page they found their garage door open. >> reporter: they checked their security cameras and found

this guy in the hoody can be seen h bushes, inside their car, walking into their garage and going down the street. >> we have footage at about 3 o'clock in the morning that he walked down the street and tried to open a car door that was in that driveway and that was locked and he went to @c the e next house and was able to open it and he did ` `@` the same. >> reporter: seminole county sheriff p deputies say cars ````````pppppppp at p seven homes were `@``` rifled ` through and garage `p@p#``` door openers were taken from each car. >> i don't know if he had plans of coming back and probably he went inside looking around to see what we have. >> reporter: deputies say a pricy mountain bike was stolen from one of the garages. now this family and their neighbors hope someone recognizes this guy and turns him into investigators before he strikes again. holly bristow, fox35 news.
